MAKE-IT Workshop: Sustainable Business Models for Labs

Everyday labs and makerspaces face the challenges of obtaining appropriate funding and financial sustainability. A job that doesn’t get easier when the number of labs worldwide rapidly increases month after month. This workshop will help lab managers and owners explore the commercial opportunities within their own lab.
This workshop seeks to share experiences specifically from Fablab TI and Fablab Copenhagen. Both are working systematically with education & training of citizens and they provide advisory services aimed at commercializing ideas from within the lab environment. During the workshop we will discuss (i) the premise of the fablab, and (ii) collectively reflect and ideate to develop ideas and activities that can contribute to the financial viability of each individual lab.
