Barcelona Maker Faire 2017

Barcelona Marker Faire hosts the most inspired, talented and ambitious makers, enthusiastic to share all their knowledge and creativity through exhibitions, workshops, and interactive demos. If you are a Maker, we have an appointment on 17th – 18th June at Barcelona Maker Faire 2017 (Fira Barcelona Montjuic, Pavellò Italià). Save the date and come with your family and your friends.

Let’s reveal the inventor, creator, engineer, innovative craftsman that lives inside of you! Let’s share experiences with others and get closer to the latest technologies and maker initiatives.

With the participation of leading international experts that will present and discuss the latest results and contributions in education, society, and economics, Barcelona Maker Faire wants to contribute promoting imagination, creativity, innovation and learning of new skills and ideas.

Maker Faire originated in 2006 in the San Francisco Bay Area as a project of the editors of Make: magazine.  It has since grown into a significant worldwide network of both flagship and independently-produced events.  Read more on Maker Faire history, the Maker Movement, as well as how to start a Maker Faire or a School Maker Faire where you live.

Barcelona Maker Faire will be organized by Sonar+DFab Lab Barcelona and Soko Tech, with the support of Make magazine, Barcelona City HallIN(3D)USTRY and Obra Social ‘La Caxia’.

MAKE-IT partners participated with four knowledge transfer workshops, interviewing makers and promoting MAKE-IT.

Visualizar’16

Visualizar’16 International Workshop, titled Ciudades abiertas, Open Cities, will take place from September 26th to October 5th 2016. During ten days, eight multidisciplinary teams will develop eight projects dealing with city data.

The selected projects will be presented during the Open Cities Summit, the international summit of open cities, which will take place in Medialab-Prado on October 5th within the framework of the activities previous to the International Open Data Conference, #IODC16, that will take place in Madrid on October 6th and 7th 2016. Once the Open Cities Summit concludes, the resulting work will be showcased in Medialab-Prado.

Visualizar’16 Ciudades abiertas, Open Cities‘ aim is to work with the open data of cities, but namely with the data that the citizens consciously decide to generate, control, recover, interpret and share, with projectsw that explore this perspective of citizen, local and located use of data, from fields as diverse as environmental sustainability, the working of infrastructures, socio-cultural activities and care-giving.

MAKE-IT partner IAAC | Fab Lab Barcelona will participate with the selected project Fab City Dashboard, a platform for the data analysis and visualization of city resilience and the impact of the Fab Lab and Maker movement on it.
